Davao City (CNN Philippines) — Davao City’s government and local police awarded 19 taxi drivers for their honesty in a ceremony held Monday (February 1) at the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) grounds.
DCPO spokesperson Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz said these drivers were recognized for returning valuable items left behind by their passengers.
Last January, the House of Representatives approved a bill that protects passengers from dishonest taxi drivers.
Drivers who violate the bill’s provisions may be penalized with fines amounting to P5,000 or a year-long suspension of their driver’s license.
